Prediction of Material Flow Behavior in Stir Zones of Friction Stir Welded 6%Ni Carbon Steel Based on Texture Analysis

Friction stir welding (FSW) was performed under the two conditions (rotation speed-traveling speed) of 150 rpm-100 mm/min and 200 rpm-400 using 6 mass%Ni-0.63 mass%C steels. The slightly lower peak temperature significantly higher cooling rate obtained condition mm/min. Texture analysis for retained austenite martensite revealed that parent had simple shear texture, which lead to formation {110}<111> texture in transformed martensite. Moreover, material flow behavior as a function distance from top surface zone analyzed based on textures by EBSD measurement. A concentric flow, has smaller radius far tool shoulder, formed On other hand, heterogeneous with center shifted retreating side In addition, different vertical component predicted occur each conditions.
